Awareness Week is Oct. 19-23 at HES

This week, we're celebrating one of our very own Hendrix Wildcats, Dr. Elaine Newberry!

As a breast cancer survivor, Dr. Newberry knows firsthand the importance of early detection. Her breast cancer was discovered through a routine annual mammogram, and that early detection made a tremendous difference in her treatment and recovery. Rather than keeping her experience to herself, Dr. Newberry is using her story to educate, encourage, and support others. She's helping lead our Breast Cancer Awareness Week, October 19–23, bringing our school community together through awareness, kindness, and meaningful action. Dr. Newberry is a wonderful example of what it means to put our IB learning into action. She has turned a personal challenge into an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. Thank you, Dr. Newberry, for reminding us that taking action doesn't have to change the whole world. Sometimes, it starts by sharing our story and helping one person. Awareness brings change. Action makes a difference.

🎳 Wildcats Strike Up Some Fun! 🐾

Our Wildcats had a fantastic time at Special Olympics Bowling! From friendly competition to cheering on their friends, students demonstrated teamwork, sportsmanship, and encouragement while celebrating every success. We are especially proud of the way our Wildcats embraced the IB Learner Profile attribute of being Risk-Takers, trying their best, building confidence, and supporting one another along the way!
