A Message from Our Principal
Welcome to the 2025–2026 School Year at Hendrix Elementary International Baccalaureate World School!
It continues to be a tremendous honor to serve as the principal of Hendrix Elementary for the past ten years. I have a deep love for this remarkable community and treasure the strong relationships we’ve built with our dedicated staff, supportive families, and incredible students. Hendrix is truly a special place, and I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to positively impact the lives of our learners and educators each day.
At Hendrix, our commitment to academic excellence remains the foundation of

everything we do. We strive to ensure that every child reaches their full potential through rich, engaging, and rigorous learning experiences. Our goal is to foster a vibrant learning environment where every student is challenged, supported, and inspired—every day, in every classroom. By working collaboratively with our students, staff, and families, we are able to create a school community that honors each child’s unique strengths, needs, and backgrounds.
Hendrix Elementary is proud to be the only elementary school in Spartanburg District Two that offers the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP), Creative Movement, and Spanish language instruction. This exceptional blend of academics, arts, and global education helps our students discover and express their individual talents. We have also earned the distinction of becoming an Arts in Basic Curriculum (ABC) School—further strengthening our commitment to providing a comprehensive arts education for every child. Through the ABC program, students engage deeply with dance, music, theatre, media arts, visual arts, and creative writing, expanding their academic learning through creativity and self-expression.
We believe wholeheartedly in the power of family partnerships. Parents and guardians are a child’s first and most important teachers, and your involvement is vital to their success. Your knowledge of your child’s unique personality, interests, and learning style is invaluable. We invite you to maintain open lines of communication with your child’s teacher and to share insights that may help support their learning and well-being. Together, we can instill a love of learning, a strong work ethic, and enduring values that will serve our children for a lifetime.
If you have questions, concerns, or suggestions at any point, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We look forward to partnering with you in what promises to be an exciting, meaningful, and successful school year.
Warmly,
Tina Humphries
Principal, Hendrix Elementary IB World School
